Celebrating the Launch of Lumie Dash

Celebrating the Launch of Lumie Dash
Introducing Lumie Dash - our new compact bright light therapy lamp which is as close to nature as technology gets!

We are thrilled to have introduced a brand-new member into our bright light therapy family... Lumie Dash! Expertly designed for maximum visual comfort, Dash is a compact bright light therapy lamp for enhanced mood, energy and daytime alertness whatever the weather.

How does Lumie Dash work and what are the benefits?

Sunlight is a natural mood and energy booster, influencing our body chemistry including our melatonin and serotonin levels. When daylight hours are limited and when we spend a significant amount of time indoors, many of us feel sluggish and irritable due to inadequate light exposure. With premium 10,000 lux LEDs, Lumie Dash simulates the brightness and intensity of natural daylight to alleviate symptoms of winter blues, helping you to feel refreshed and energised.

The benefits of Lumie Dash don’t end there! With a colour rendering index value of CRI-95+, Dash’s LED technology provides exceptional colour fidelity whilst remaining gentle on the eyes, allowing you to see colours, text and textures as they truly are.

Dash's high-contrast lighting allows you to see textures and colours as they really are
Lumie Dash launch event

In celebration of the launch of our much-loved new product, we hosted an intimate breakfast event and interdisciplinary panel discussion exploring science-backed strategies for boosting our overall well-being during the autumn and winter, and beyond.  The panel was chaired by the incredible sleep expert Dr Sophie Bostock, and she was joined by the neuroscientist Tj Power and Associate Professor Vikki Revell from the Surrey Sleep Research Centre as well as a medial scientist and nutritionist, Dr Federica Amati.  Check out some of the highlights from the event below!

If you are interested in hearing some of the top tips from our panellists for boosting mood this autumn and winter, then look no further! See below some points for thought:

Light

Morning light exposure is the main cue for synchronising our circadian rhythm. Starting the day with natural light exposure (whether this on a walk or sitting by the window) has huge mood-boosting powers. During the darker mornings of autumn and winter, a 30-minute session of bright light therapy supplements the natural light which is lacking, helping you to feel brighter. A second session of bright light therapy in the early afternoon also helps you to overcome the afternoon slump, leaving you feeling energised.

Nutrition

After light as a cue, food intake is the second most prominent signal of time of day for our bodies. Try to start your day with a nutritious breakfast such as eggs and beans, or a yoghurt bowl with berries. If you’re on the go, taking overnight oats with you is a great option! When it comes to food intake later in the day, eating after 9 pm can negatively affect metabolic processes the next day and disrupt sleep. Trying to eat within daylight hours and before 9pm can help to avoid this.

Phone-fasting

In our digital world, the temptation to scroll endlessly on our phone is strong. Allocating time in which you consciously remove yourself from your phone ("phone-fasting") helps you to disconnect from the screen and reconnect with your thoughts. Taking a 30-minute phone-free walk in nature can have a hugely positive impact in terms of mental well-being. Making a habit of this and disconnecting from our phone can help us to become comfortable with the fear of boredom.

In summary...

All of our panellists highlighted the crucial role of light in regulating circadian rhythms, which affect various aspects of health. By understanding and optimising our light exposure, we can significantly enhance our overall well-being and daily functioning. As we head into the autumn and winter months, when natural daylight becomes harder to access, Lumie Dash can help to regulate circadian rhythms, boost mood and improve energy levels by mimicking daylight. Whether you’re starting your day with a burst of bright light or using it to stay alert and focused throughout the day, Lumie Dash is designed to support your well-being in the most natural and effortless way possible.
